All Boulder Creek Guitars feature the “SBS” Suspended Bracing System. The unique design allows the sound board to vibrate more freely than conventional “X” bracing systems. The “SBS” bracing system was designed by Mike Shellhammer in conjunction with Morgan Hill Music in the Silicon Valley. By using less points of contact and less rigid bracing around the bridge area, the guitar top is allowed to vibrate more but retains its strength and stability. The aluminum tone bars secure the bridge area but are suspended ½” below the sound board surface to avoid dampening the vibration. The bars also vibrate and transfer the vibration to the contact points creating increased sustain.
Selected high quality hardwoods are used in all Boulder Creek guitars. All tops are solid Spruce or solid Cedar and all backs are solid Rosewood or solid Mahogany. Laminated sides provide stability and strength.
